I got up around 6:30 at the BWI hotel and found out that it had been raining
the night before. I took off towards the West on highway 70 because I really
could not handle more stop-in-go traffic without lane splitting , which I would
probably need to do if I went into Washington DC in order to directly catch
US-50. I I wish I had my camera ready, but I
did not at that time.
I ended up going though Harper’s
Ferry, the site where John Brown fought just before the civil war. The Shenandoah
Valley was just drop dead beautiful as I crossed the bridge before the
park.

I continued on moving South West until I met the 50 at
Winchester. The 50 after Winchester was just incredible for the next couple
hundred miles with twists, elevation changes and great scenery. Once I hit
Clarksburg the road became divided and straight, almost like an interstate. I
rolled into the hotel in Parkerburg, WV at 5:00 PM. Today was a 10 hour day, but not as difficult
as the first day, and much more beautiful and cooler, at around 76 degrees for
most of the day. I covered 286 miles today.
